Feeling Stuck, Anxious, or Overwhelmed?
You're Not Alone.
Life can feel heavy when you're navigating anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or major life transitions on your own. Maybe you're struggling with self-doubt, feeling disconnected from yourself and others, or exhausted from trying to manage everything alone.
You don't have to keep carrying this weight by yourself.
At Austin Relational Wellness, our compassionate individual therapists provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and patterns. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationship issues, family-of-origin concerns, or simply feeling stuck, we're here to help you find clarity, build resilience, and create the life you want.
Who We Help
Individual therapy at Austin Relational Wellness is for adults navigating:
Anxiety & Stress
Anxiety is a natural human response that most people experience—an estimated 31.1% of U.S. adults experience an anxiety disorder at some time in their lives. While occasional worry can help us navigate challenges, anxiety becomes a concern when racing thoughts, constant worry, feeling on edge, or difficulty relaxing persist and interfere with daily life. You might also be experiencing stress and uncertainty that keeps you from feeling grounded.
Depression
Depression is a common experience that affects many Americans—approximately 15.5% of U.S. adults experience major depressive disorder annually. Like anxiety, it's a natural human emotion that can signal when something in our lives needs attention. However, when persistent sadness, loss of interest, low energy, or feelings of hopelessness continue over time, you may need support.
Life Transitions
Major changes like moving to Austin, career shifts, breakups, becoming a parent, or adjusting to a new life stage
Relationship Challenges
Difficulties with partners, family, friendships, or repeating unhealthy relationship patterns
Family-of-Origin Issues
Understanding how your past impacts your present, healing from childhood wounds, or navigating complex family dynamics
Self-Esteem & Identity
Struggling with perfectionism, people-pleasing, or not knowing who you are outside of others' expectations
Trauma & Past Hurt
Processing difficult experiences that still impact you today
Feeling Stuck or Unfulfilled
Knowing something needs to change but not sure what or how
Our Approach to Individual Therapy
At Austin Relational Wellness, we take a systemic, relational approach to individual therapy. Unlike traditional therapy that focuses solely on your internal thoughts and feelings, we believe that understanding yourself happens through exploring your relationships—with others, with yourself, and with your past.
What makes this different? Many therapies treat you as an isolated individual with problems to fix. We see you as someone shaped by connections—the relationships you've had, the ones you have now, and the relationship we build together in therapy. This therapeutic relationship becomes a safe space to practice new ways of relating, understand old patterns, and experience what healthy connection feels like.
What This Means for You:
Your therapist will help you:
Understand patterns - Identify the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors keeping you stuck—and trace them back to their relational roots
Explore the "why" behind the "what" - Connect how past experiences (especially with family) continue to show up in your present relationships
Practice in real-time - Use the therapeutic relationship itself as a place to try new ways of communicating, setting boundaries, and being authentic
Develop new skills - Build practical tools for managing anxiety, navigating conflict, setting boundaries, and communicating effectively
Find your authentic self - Discover who you are beneath the expectations, fears, and "shoulds" you’ve carried
Create meaningful change - Move from insight to meaningful action in your relationships and life
Our therapists integrate evidence-based approaches tailored to your unique needs, including attachment theory, trauma-informed care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and relational therapy techniques.
What to Expect in Individual Therapy
Your First Session
In your initial session, your Austin therapist will get to know you—what brought you to therapy, what you're struggling with, and what you hope to achieve. This is your time to share your story, ask questions, and see if we're a good fit. There's no pressure, and everything you share is confidential.
Ongoing Sessions
Individual therapy typically involves weekly or biweekly 50-minute sessions. Your therapist will help you explore your thoughts and feelings, identify patterns, process difficult emotions, and develop strategies for managing challenges. Some sessions may focus on specific issues, while others might explore deeper themes in your life and relationships.
How Long Does Therapy Take?
Every person's journey is different. Some clients see meaningful improvement in a few months, while others benefit from longer-term support. Your therapist will work collaboratively with you to set goals and determine what's working. You're always in control of how long you stay in therapy.
A Safe, Supportive Space
Throughout the process, your therapist maintains a warm, non-judgmental stance. Therapy is your space—to be vulnerable, to explore difficult topics, to laugh, to cry, to figure things out at your own pace. We're here to support you, challenge you gently when needed, and walk alongside you as you create the changes you want.

How much does individual therapy cost?
