Colleen Winter, MA, LPC

Owner, Clinical & Spiritual Director

I believe that each person is unique and has the internal capacity to change and grow.  As a therapist, my role is to be accepting and nonjudgmental, as well as caring and compassionate.

Most people seek therapy, myself included, after a major loss or during a time when life feels unmanageable. Sometimes trauma from different types of abuse, neglect, and criticism (from others or ourselves) also motivates us to seek help. It's often scary to think about. If not worked through, painful experiences can cloud our perceptions of ourselves and of others. It is my hope to provide a safe and nurturing place where healing can happen.

My goal is to help you grow in your relationship with yourself, others, and God. Whether it's through individual therapy or spiritual direction, I work with people in transition. Sometimes this includes working with addictions, codependency issues, loss due to death or divorce, career changes, moving stress, effects of an "empty nest," struggles of motherhood, as well as other life transitions.

I help couples and individuals who want to experience more fulfilling lives with stronger relationships. If this sounds like you, you may be worried you are not measuring up to certain expectations, feeling a sense of stuckness, or holding yourself back because of painful feelings or fear. What you want out of life is within reach.

Together, we can get there by exploring your hopes, needs, and motivations. I support you and gently challenge you to think about and approach things in new ways. My counseling style is conversational and relaxed. During our time together, some conversations will be tough, but there will also be a lot of laughter along the way. Others experience me as grounded and as having a sense of humor.

In my work with couples and premarital clients, I integrate Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Intimacy Therapy to help you see patterns of relating, identify your needs, celebrate differences, communicate more effectively, and work through conflict. I also believe that our unique personalities influence our experiences of the world around us, so I enjoy integrating the personality typing system of the Enneagram into my work with individuals.

I know from helping others that small changes can often lead to major improvements. The first small step toward change is contacting someone that can help. Reach out to me through the form at the bottom of the page to receive a free phone consultation. I'd love to find a time to chat about your needs and figure out if we're the right fit for one another.

I help people who think they should be happy all the time but are worn out from carrying around hurt or stress and are afraid to be vulnerable.

I support them by guiding them to grow in self knowledge so they can take the next step towards being the best version of themselves. I know from my own journey that understanding yourself and becoming aware of your own motivations, coping strategies and relationship patterns helps you relate better with others and promotes personal healing.

I believe therapy can be beneficial for anyone who wants to transform their life that's why I hope you take the next step to connect with me. Reach out to me via email or give me a call for a free phone consultation. Evening and weekend appointments available.
